  • Activating google Analytics in Admin 2020

If like most of us, you use google analytics to track website traffic then you can pull through data through to the Admin 2020 Dashboard. The following instructions will show you how to get the necessary account details.

  • A google analytics account
  • An up to date install of Admin 2020

OAuth Consent Screen

  1. Access the google API console here.
  2. In the top left corner click create project or if you already have a project navigate to that.
  3. Give the project a relevant name such as: Admin 2020 Analytics. Click Create.
  4. Once the project is created, navigate to that project from the drop down in the top left of the screen.
  5. Click on OAuth consent screen, choose User Type Internal and click create. ( If you are not a gsuite user, you can select external and the process will be the same)
  6. Give the OAuth screen an application name such as Admin 2020 Analytics and click create.

Creating API credentials

  1. Navigate to the credentials tab and click create credentials and then click OAuth Client ID.
  2. On the next screen, choose web application and give the credentials a name.
  3. Under Authorised JavaScript origins, you need to enter the domain where you will be using the plugin. So for example, if I was using it on the website, I would enter https://wpadmin.com
  4. Click create and you will be shown your new credentials. Take note of the client ID as we will need to enter this into the plugin settings.

Enabling the Analytics API

  1. From the same screen where you created your credentials, navigate to Library.
  2. Search for Google Analytics Reporting API, click on it and press enable.

View ID

  1. Navigate to your google analytics dashboard (here) and click admin in the bottom left corner.
  2. In the third column, click view settings and It will show your View ID.

Activating in Admin 2020

  1. Go back to your WordPress dashboard and under settings click Admin 2020.
  2. Navigate down to the google analytics section and enter your client ID and view ID.
  3. Save these settings and navigate to the Overview dashboard.
  4. Here you should see a google sign in box, click this and sign in with the relevant account.

And that’s it! Your account should now be linked to Admin 2020 dashboard and you should along the lines of the below!
